So, let’s just get this out of the way: My weather predictions are about as reliable as my putting, but would it really be a Derelict Friday without a little rain for ambiance? Who needs sunshine when you’ve got flying glow discs and questionable life choices, right?

Regardless of the weather, or who’s fault it may or may not have been, it couldn’t dampen our great time throwing First Calvary! It was awesome seeing such a mix on the leaderboards, with Pros, Ams, and even Amy & Shawn pulling off a Derelict tie for first! I hope you all had fun and we hope to see you next week back at Kaposia!

You heard it here folks, Derelict Depot, our Merch Shop, is now LIVE!

We’re launching our online merch shop (beta style), which means awesome designs (more on the way!), but also a few things to keep in mind:

  • Beta Testing: Not all items have been physically tested yet. You might be part of the merch beta crew so we’d love to see pictures of anything you’ve bought! Logo sizes and placement may vary slightly due to the image printing process. Our printing service recommended designing for Large to ensure logo proportions stay consistent across all sizes.
  • Shipping: We’re using a Print-on-Demand (POD) provider so shipping costs are per item (we could’ve hidden it in the price, but we prefer transparency). Be prepared for slightly longer shipping times with POD.
  • Hoodie & Jersey: I’m still waiting on samples of these so they are the most untested items. My original sample was lost in the mail apparently so I reordered to try again.
  • WooCommerce + Our Web Host: Our current web host is a bit slow. We’re looking for a faster option to improve your experience.
  • Lowest Prices Possible: We’ve set base prices as low as possible except for a slight upcharge per item to cover WooCommerce and processing fees. Beyond that we’re not here to make a profit, we just want to provide you Derelicts with some fun Swag!

Whew, what a year it’s been Derelicts!

This Spring Series was a rollercoaster! Time seemed to fly by as we battled it out on the course (when the weather would let us). Some of our end of Spring Series stats blew my mind. Huge thanks to every Derelict who came out and threw down – your participation is what makes this league awesome!

SPRING SERIES CHAMPION: THONG VUE!
Let’s get right to the throwdown showdown! We’re thrilled to crown Thong Vue as the champion of the 2024 Derelict League After Dark Spring Series! The competition was fierce, with Thong edging out Tommy by a razor-thin margin of 0.65 points. That might be the closest finish we’ve ever seen in the Derelict League!

Congrats, Thong! We’re glad you snagged a well earned photo with the Derelict Belt.

Howdy-Ho Derelicts!

What a fantastic return to Kaposia last Friday! Despite some initial challenges with UDisc and Island Hole lighting we had an incredible night, a huge shoutout to everyone for their patience and understanding. It turned out to be a phenomenal night of disc golf, and Derelict League attendance was one of the highest of any league on UDisc in the Twin Cities metro!

Handicap System Updates
As we mentioned at the start of the year, we’re creating a pretty advanced handicap system, so with the start of Spring Series we’ll be testing out a new tune for players with higher handicaps that weren’t coming up as competitive as we’d like to see. We want to see everyone from our Pros to our First Timers have a chance at a win and this is a good step.

We hope you’re ready to light up the course this Friday for the 2024 Spring Series Finale of Derelict League: After Dark! We’re wrapping things up by taking a trip home to the Mothership, Kaposia Park.

This week, we’re unleashing a custom course layout that will be your first taste of what’s to come in our Summer Series! To assist you in your quest for nocturnal grace, we’ll have extra lighting and signage illuminating the way, as well as the long awaited return of the Island Hole!

DERELICT ANNOUNCEMENT!!

As promised, here is the Derelict League: After Dark – Summer Series 2024 Course Schedule!

We will be returning to our “Home” at Kaposia Park in an all-new custom Derelict Layout! In addition, we will also be returning to Oakwood for the first time since the Derelict Wednesday Day Rounds as a Derelict After Dark course!

We like to make it weird, and with our new handicap system, we are finally able to change things up a bit, so we sent Tommy out into the woods to come up with some fun new layouts. It’s been a few days and we’re still waiting for him to come back, so in the meantime, we hope you enjoy what we have for you this Summer! If anyone sees Tommy, tell him his family misses him.

In addition to the Summer Series Announcement, we have a few housekeeping items to mention:

  1. In order to be eligible for CTPs, Aces, or Payouts, you must be signed up prior to the start of the round. There may be exceptions in special circumstances, determined by the LDs, however to keep it fair to those who paid in and signed up on time, you may be disqualified if you are not signed up in a timely manner.
  2. Cash CTP’s have a green puck light at the base of them and you must be bought into the Cash CTPs to be eligible to win them. If you aren’t bought in, please don’t move the cash CTPs. Disc/Prize CTPs are for everyone courtesy of Derelict League, our members, vendors, or sponsors, no buy-in is needed.
  3. When you arrive, verify you are signed up on KPLeagues and check into the event on UDisc.
  4. Pick up garbage! It doesn’t even have to be yours, if it looks like garbage, throw it away, earn yourself some course karma!

NOTE: Spring Week 9 will no longer be at Highland Park, instead we will be running the new Kaposia After Dark 20 layout! You can Sign Up Now even before the regular Wednesday Announcement!

New Handicap System
Every player in KPLeagues has a backend average (this will be more apparent as the system evolves), to get this we use the existing data from your various KPLeagues Derelict rounds and courses played, these courses in themselves have a difficulty rating which will adjust your handicap as we move to different locations or run different layouts. This is very similar to how BOLF creates handicaps and in a way, similar to the PDGA system. New players will not have a handicap until their round has completed. Once completed their handicap will be adjusted based on the general handicap rules (75% of average) and their round score. Everyone will end up with a negative handicap in this new system.

Total Throws – Handicap = Derelict Score

The person you’re trying to beat when playing Handicap is yourself! Not even your full self, 75% of the average version of yourself.
TLDR; New system is more like Ball Golf Handicaps vs Bowling Handicaps
